Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Independence

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative by the Government of India to honour and commemorate 75 years of Independent India and to celebrate the glorious history of its people, culture, and accomplishments. The Mahotsav is devoted to the people of India who have been instrumental in ensuring an illustrious evolutionary journey and who possess the determination and aptitude to enable Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

It embodies the progressive aspects of India’s socio-cultural, political, and economic identity. The journey of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” officially began on 12th March 2021 leading to a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence and will end post a year on 15th August 2023. The Hon'ble Prime Minister inaugurated the year-long celebrations from Gujarat on 12th March 2021, which also marks the 91st anniversary of the historic Salt Satyagraha led by Mahatma Gandhi. The festival of 75 years of independence encompasses the zeal of freedom struggle, a resolution to create India of our dreams, and a solemn tribute to the martyrdom of our freedom fighters. The series of events organized by the Government to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence will be based on public participation and revolve around five themes- the freedom struggle, ideas, achievements, actions and resolve at 75.

In alignment with the spirit of national celebration on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day- “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”, Satyawati College, has enthusiastically engaged its students by organizing a plethora of events.

Over the course of several weeks, Satyawati College will be conducting several lectures, competitions, and other events commemorating the freedom struggle and ideas that shaped our contemporary reality. The events underscore the progress we have made socially, politically, and economically over the decades.

These events are required to generate awareness and interest in the nation’s journey and prospective growth. In pursuance of the notifications issued by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting dated 5th March & 24th March 2021, the University of Delhi is celebrating 75 years of India's Independence in collaboration with constituent Colleges and Departments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the festival should encompass the glimpse of the pride of Sanatan Bharat and the glory of Modern India. He said that it should reflect the light of the spirituality of the sages along with highlighting the capabilities and strengths of our scientists depicting the magnificent journey of our Nation. He further put emphasis on 'creating a vision' for India@2047.

Satyawati College proudly stands alongside the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the meaningful and successful conduction of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.
